Special destination wedding in Rome: the beautiful Castello Odescalchi Santa Marinella for the “I do”

Hi guys all right? After the Residenza Maritti, which I posted here on the blog , and the Hotel Martis Palace, which I shared on Instagram , today I will dedicate this post to the beautiful Castello Odescalchi Santa Marinella, also in Rome, and perfect for the “yes”. Imagine your wedding in a princely castle overlooking the sea, located in a beautiful Mediterranean park not far from Rome. Now, imagine a romantic chapel, a patio reminiscent of the atmosphere of other times and a beautiful terrace overlooking the sea. That’s it, you’ve arrived at the Castello Odescalchi Santa Marinella.

And when I say princely, I mean it! In 1887, Prince Baldassare Odescalchi participated in an auction and bought the castle and property of Santa Marinella from Hospital do Espírito Santo, which was the previous owner. There were a total of five hundred hectares distributed in some buildings: the church in front of the castle itself, which still exists, the inn and some modest dwellings occupied by workers and fishermen.

But the high position above sea level, the southeast exposure, the protection of the coastal strip made by the Tolfa Mountains, the generally mild climate in all seasons, gave the visionary Prince Baldassarre , who was a thinker with extraordinary ideas, the idea of create one of the first modern resorts around the castle, transforming the small village into an elegant elite seaside resort.

Thanks to his vision, in the fifties Santa Marinella became the tourist town for film actors. Italian cinema lived the great experience of neorealism , while the Americans landed at the Cinecittà Studios, and built their great historical script productions. Totò, Alberto Sordi, Anna Magnani, Marcello Mastroianni, Vittorio Gassman and Esther Williams are now regular guests of the city and have attracted a large and enthusiastic audience around them. Roberto Rossellini and Ingrid Bergman spent the happiest years of their marriage in their villa at Santa Marinella, and it was not uncommon to find them with their children in the streets and in the little shops around the castle, or to see them bathing on the rocks with Rock Hudson and Gregory Peck. Faruk and Narimane, the king of egypt and his wife spent their golden exile in this elegant spa, attracting the attention of newspapers around the world.

Today the castle belongs to the heirs of Baldassarre, Carlo and Innocenzo Odescalchi, and it is still the center of this small seaside town, with its twenty-two kilometers of coastline, its beautiful Art Nouveau villas and its notoriously favorable climate and still deserves the name of pearl of the Tyrrhenian Sea.

With weddings in mind, the series of indoor and outdoor spaces seems to have been specifically designed to welcome guests: the park, the court, the old gazebo, the corners overlooking the sea, the lounge and the dining room, furnished with refined simplicity, are places of great charm and appeal, to live the magic of the “yes”.

The castle is perfect for hosting every day of the trip, from the welcome, through the ceremony to the closing party. The couple can stay in our lovely suite, while guests can take advantage of the many accommodations located around the castle and perhaps spend the weekend in the seaside town of Santa Marinella. A charm apart!

Wassup what did you think? Too much, right? I loved this castle! If you want to know more or even make a budget for the big day, write to me and I’ll help you!

See you next week,

Simone
