Discover Inventing Anna’s La Mamounia hotel for destination wedding in Marrakesh

Hello everyone! I loved all the messages I received about my trip to Marrakesh. It really is an incredible destination and it surprised me sooooo positively for weddings. Beautiful scenery, receptive and partying people (as we like) and international luxury hotels. It’s even the subject of today’s post, the famous hotel La Mamounia – which if you’re a fan of “Inventing Anna”, from Netflix, like me, you’ve certainly seen it and fallen in love with it.

La Mamounia is not just an amazing hotel, it is the paradise of a wonderful history that I loved discovering. The story of a sultan, Sidi Mohammed Ben Adellah, who in the 18th century gave his son the land where the hotel now stands as a wedding gift. He already starts his romantic ties right here, being a wedding gift. But La Mamounia was not actually built until two centuries later, in 1923.

Due to its date, the hotel has striking features from the beginning of the century (national and international): in the architecture, for example, you will find a mix of the traditional Moroccan style with a strong European influence from Art Deco . Recently, the hotel underwent a 3-year renovation, which made everything even more special. The rooms are stunning, the restaurants delicious and the common spaces drooling. I joke that, just like in the series, you’ll want to take a picture in every environment. It’s perfect for a destination wedding in Marrakesh , because you get beautiful photos and perfect experiences for your guests.

La Mamounia is so famous that it was not only the setting for the series I mentioned, but also a pit stop for great celebrities , such as Julio Iglesias, Elton John, the Rolling Stones, Nelson Mandela, Tom Cruise and, more recently, the queen of Instagram Kim Kardashian.

With the party in mind, the hotel has Michelin-starred restaurants. L’Italien and L’Asiatique, both led by chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. For those who dream of a local cuisine to inspire their guests, my tip is to bet on Le Morocain, which brings the best of Moroccan food.

For welcome drinks , be sure to try the incredible cocktails at Churchill, a bar named after another of its illustrious guests. As for the pre-wedding, I would leave a delicious pool party for the day! It’s really worth it to enjoy the day with your guests at a daytime party (the heat in Marrakesh is intense)! Those who prefer other activities, still have the casino, the tennis courts, the beauty salon and the gym.

On the big day, I suggest having a spa with your bridesmaids , the famous Moroccan massages will be a delight and a new experience! And speaking of this day, the gardens are perfect for the ceremony. But if you want to escape the sun, the hotel has comfortable ceremony rooms.

So, what do you think? I hope you enjoyed it, because I fell in love and hope to come back soon with you, your fiancé and your guests for a beautiful destination wedding in Marrakesh !

Kisses and see you soon,

Simone
